POST-MATCH COMMENTS BY ME- honest, precise, and un-biased.

Okay so Germany's hopes of winning the World Cup is over. They played fairly well though. Fairly, i dare say, as compared to the way Italy controlled the match from right when the match started. And just like the Dutch, i think its because their team is still quite young and cant handle the high pressures of playing a semi-final. Even though it was played in front of their own home fans, they looked second rated compared to the star-studded Italian squad.

First half, was a bore but still there were the moments. Italy got one early chance when Totti fired a shot from i think was 25-30 yards away from the goal. Strong shot, but no curvy-durvy stuff from the Italian playmaker to fool Lehmann. After that the chances were few and far between for the Italians. Germany went close too in the 30plus minutes when Schneider placed his shot just a few centimetres above the crossbar. German fans disappointed, The Azzuri relieved. A few more chances for both teams after that which were not too significant to me. So wont go into those. Told you i'd be honest right? =)

Anyway second half started and and and it was the Germans who raised the tempo with Klose getting close to the goal in the first few minutes. Podolski was the next on to come close after managing to get past Materazzi, then shooting hard to the goal, only to see it being saved by Buffon. Then it was the opposite side's goalkeeper's turn to make a save from Pirlo's effort. At about this time, i had the impression that the match would end in a stalemate because it was so evenly matched. And it really did end in a stalemate. So, extra-time now.

And here is where the fun begins. Right at the first minute of extra-time, an Italian player(i think it Gilardino), relieved Germans' hearts when his shot hit Lehmann's post. The framework was smashed once again by the Italians, this time an effort by Zambrotta. Italy's confidence was accruing by the minute, and so was my sister's. She's an original A-class Azzuri supporter. Anyway sorry back to the my blog. E-rm. Where was I? Okay yes so the Italians were gaining in confidence bla bla bla. Second half of extra time, and still the Italians pressed on for a win. I think they do not want a penalty shoot-out as the Germans are very good at those stuff. Okay wait i shall rephrase that sentence. ... as Germany are ONLY very good at those stuff. Haha. Okok focus on the blog ful.. Dont make fun of Germany. Haha. K i can see German fans not laughing.

Anyway anyway anyway, Pirlo had a good shot saved by Lehmann in the second half of extra time. And then ta-dah, the first goal of the match was scored from the resulting corner. Grosso broke German hearts everywhere with his shot. But actuall to me, that shot could've been saved if the keeper had been in a better position. Italy then added insult to injury when Del Piero, my third favourite player, scored the second goal. That goal was just simply magnificent and will stay in everyone's memory as one of the most important and beautiful goal.

The match ended with Italy winning by 2 goals against home team Germany. Tears were shed everywhere. Germany is out of the World Cup. But hey at least they still got another match. A 3rd or 4th placing match that is. Hah. Okay ful i said stop it. Stop making fun of Germans.

Summing it up, Italians are through and they're anxiously waiting for their opponents in the final. My sister, and all Azzuri fans however, can go on and party. Germans, it has been a not-bad campaign by you, but honestly it was all just the home crowd giving you that extra advantage and Klose bulldozing past defenders. I dont think he got any skill and i think that all the goals he scored in this tournament can be scored by any other strikers easily. Too bad Germany, you should've taken your chances when it came to you. Congratulations Italy for getting to the Final, and good luck to you. Germany, dont be too disenchanted by your lost. You still got another match.
